Game Over : Jose Hernandez : Dollar ReDe$ign 2010

"The idea behind these was to create currency that reflected the United States in the 21st century as well as keep it's heritage and "'brand' of the Dollar intact. By brand I mean the look and feel of what Americans are used to seeing as the United States Dollar. For the past few years and decades American currency hasn't kept up to the changes the country has made. The United States are not what it used to be a century ago. A country's currency should reflect the country it serves. Although It does have the heritage and history locked down; it doesnt represent America's future as well. This is what I tried to do with this redesign. I tried to make it more about redesigning it than to make a politcal statement so that's why a few political figures were left off or kept on. At the end of the day currency is meant to hold value and integrity. One of the biggest ways currencies loses value is through inflation and counterfeiting. Although I'm not able to do anything about inflation with design, I am however able to have ideas for counterfeiting. I have included holographic strips, embossed brail and other forms of anti-counterfeiting ideas."
