America the Beautiful : Keith Rich : Dollar ReDe$ign 2010

"I wanted to have a minimal design that uses certain symbols from American culture. The main image is of purple mountains, which alludes to the 'America the Beautiful' lyrics, 'For purple mountain's majesty...' The mountains also get progressively higher as the bill gets higher representing how hard work can bring great rewards. In the background is a road map of Washington DC. near Pennsylvania Avenue and the White House are located. I was inspired to make this design, by the pursuit of happiness. Although money isn't the key to happiness, we all strive to be the best we can and usually in doing that we get rewarded in some way. Reaching the top of a mountain is the prime example of this."
Keith Rich lives in Newark, Delaware, and is a student at the University of Delaware.
