Music Man : Fabiano Pinel : Dollar ReDe$ign 2010

"One of the pillars of American society is its cultural production. And perhaps its most consistent expression is music. Only a country like the US can be proud of being the birthplace of so many different music genres - and each of them with such great influence all over the world. With that in mind, each Dollar bill would represent a genuinely american music genre, such as Blues, Jazz, Soul, Country, RAP and Rock'n'Roll. So, the Dollar would be conceptually strengthened inside the US (taking advantage of the pride of American culture) and also abroad (because of the worldwide acknowledgement of american music and musicians).

To be more aligned with the proposal, the Dollar bills would be similar in their design to concert tickets. The way the value is written on the bill is meant to resemble the main artist's name on a concert ticket. Each bill shall have a different color and be printed with the same gramature than the one of the usual bill. The right side of the bill, inspired as well by concert tickets, has its legal information (such as serial number, barcode, Department of the Treasury seal etc). That's also a measure to help identifying the bill in any position. For instant, at the money dispenser of an ATM machine or at a supermarket cash register."

US$ 1: Blues, John Lee Hooker – US$ 5: Country, Johnny Cash – US$ 10: Jazz, Louis Armstrong – US$ 20: Soul, Aretha Franklin – US$ 50: RAP, Run DMC – US$ 100: Rock-n-Roll, Elvis Presley
